Route Details
The route for Cycle Relief 2008
All participants will start on a 15 mile round trip, but will have the option of extending this to a more challenging route of 25 mile round trip. This event is not recommended for children under 10 years to participate due to the length and the terrain of the route. There is no requirement to complete the whole route for this age group, as participation and sponsorship is more important.
The 15 mile route will last approximately 3 hours, the 25 mile route will add another 2-3 hours. This extended route is only suitable for mountain bikes, due to the terrain of certain parts.
Please note the event is NOT a race and is designed for people of all abilities to have fun and enjoy themselves. On some sections, cyclists will share the route with other road users and pedestrians.
All participants must follow the highway code. Be patient, polite and safe.
Please Refer to PREPARATION ADVICE for further details.
The Start
We will be allowing riders out onto the route starting at 10.00am in small groups for safety reasons. No riders will be allowed on the route after 11.30am to enable us to dismantle the checkpoints in time towards the end of the day.
The Ride
The entire route will be clearly signposted and marshalled. Your stamp card will be stamped at each of the check points and your participant number noted. There will be free refreshments offered to all participants at checkpoints 2 and 3.
The Finish
All participants will be given a medal when they complete the ride (minimum requirement is to ride from the START to CHECKPOINT 1 to FINISH) after they have their stamp card stamped at FINISH.
Refreshments in Start/Finish Area
A variety of foods and drink will be available for purchase to both the participants and the general public in the park. These will range from tea/coffee, soft drinks and muffins to hot jacket potatoes and kebab rolls.
Children's Entertainment in the Start/Finish Area
